Tick control and removal

Found a tick on your dog's skin, or one climbing up the wall? Ticks pass from animals into the home and lay their eggs in cracks, so tick control has to cover the animal and the home together.

Technician treating plants and shady spots in a home garden

How do we get rid of ticks?

We treat cracks, tile joints and wall edges inside the home, along with outdoor areas such as the garden, the doghouse and shady spots. At the same time, your pet needs treatment from a vet, because it is the main source. Treating the place without the animal brings the ticks back.

Signs of ticks

  • A tick stuck to an animal's skin

A gray or brown lump that looks like a mole, often at the ears, between the toes and under the neck.

  • Ticks in tile joints

A small, flattened brown bug on the floor or wall. It hides in joints and along baseboards.

  • Ticks after time in the garden

If this started after your pet went out to the garden or the street, the source is probably outside.

  • Ticks climbing upward

After feeding, a tick drops off the animal and climbs the wall, then gets behind picture frames and curtains to lay its eggs.

Where do ticks come from?

The brown dog tick is the type most able to live inside homes, and it breeds close to where the animal sleeps. So even after the dog is treated, eggs in the joints hatch into young ticks later, and people feel the treatment failed.

Other ticks live outdoors, in grass and trees and around animal areas, and wait for any passing body to climb onto. Gardens, farms and entrances used by street cats and dogs are all known sources.

Ticks are more than a nuisance. Because they feed on blood, they can pass diseases to animals and sometimes to people. If you or a child develops a fever or rash after a tick bite, see a doctor and mention the tick.

Where we look

How does tick control work?

  1. 1

    We find the source

We ask about your pet, where it spends time and where you see the ticks, then give you the price and the time. We also tell you if you need to see the vet before the visit.

  2. 2

    Treating cracks

The technician treats tile joints, baseboards and cracks near where the animal sleeps, because that is where the eggs get laid.

  3. 3

    Treating outdoor areas

The garden, fences and shady spots get treated if the source is outside. We also show you where to cut long grass.

  4. 4

We write it down and follow up

The product name and how long to stay away are on the receipt. We follow up with you, because young ticks from old eggs can appear after treatment.

What to do and what to avoid

If you find a tick stuck to the skin, grip it with tweezers as close to the skin as you can and pull gently, without twisting or squeezing its body. Do not burn it or put kerosene or oil on it, because that makes it empty its stomach into the skin.

Spraying indoors on its own does not reach the eggs in the joints, and pet powders that were not prescribed can harm the animal. Wash your pet's bedding in hot water, seal the cracks you can get to and call the vet.

Safety with children and pets

Pets and children stay away from treated areas until they dry. The technician tells you how long based on the product, and it is written on the receipt. If your pet is old or pregnant, tell the vet before they choose a treatment.

In gardens, tell us if you grow vegetables you eat or have fish tanks or birds, so we can mark the areas we will leave untreated.

Everything is in writing before we start

Questions about ticks

Can ticks live in an apartment with no animals?

They can stay for a while after an animal leaves, but they usually arrive with an animal or from somewhere close to animals. So we first ask you about the entrance, the air shaft and the neighbors.

My dog was treated. Why do I still see ticks?

Because the eggs in the joints and cracks hatch later. That is why the place has to be treated along with the animal, during the same period.

Is this a tick or a flea?

A flea is very small and jumps, while a tick only walks and attaches itself to the skin. If you are not sure, take a photo and send it to us on WhatsApp.

Do I have to cut back all the trees in my garden?

No, but long grass and shady spots make a big difference. The technician will tell you what to cut and what to leave.

How long is the warranty?

The warranty is 5 years, and it is written on the receipt with its terms. Keep in mind that treating the animal is part of the solution, and we explain that from the start.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the size of the area and whether there are outdoor spaces, and you get the price by phone. It is written down before we start, and it does not go up after you agree.
