Gecko control for your home

A gecko comes inside because it found food. The insects around your window light bring it in, and the cracks give it somewhere to hide. Gecko control starts there, and chasing it around the room gets you nowhere.

How do we get rid of geckos?

We seal the ways geckos get in around windows and pipes, and treat the insects they feed on and the places they hide, such as behind wardrobes and picture frames. We use suitable traps when needed. It takes patience, because a gecko will not die from one spray the way a cockroach does.

Signs of geckos

  • A gecko by the light

It sits on the wall by a light or window at night, waiting for the insects that come to the light.

  • Black droppings with a white tip

A small black pellet with a white end, found under picture frames and shelves and along walls.

  • Clicking at night

A small, repeated sound that is easier to notice in hot areas and warm weather.

  • Shed skin or small eggs

Thin shed skin or small white eggs in cracks and behind furniture and old wardrobes.

Why do geckos come to my home?

A gecko is after two things: food and warmth. The food is the insects that come to the light. It finds warmth and cover behind wardrobes and picture frames, inside electrical boxes and in air conditioner housings. It gets in through window cracks, pipe openings and doors with a gap underneath.

Geckos have no venom and do not attack anyone, and the popular belief that they poison food is not accurate. The real problem is their droppings on surfaces and food, because reptiles can carry bacteria such as salmonella. So if you find droppings near food, clean the area with disinfectant and throw out any uncovered food.

Geckos also eat insects. So a large number of them in a home usually points to a lot of insects that need treating.

How does gecko control work?

  1. 1

We talk through the situation by phone

How many do you see, and where? Is the home next to a garden? Then we give you the price and the time.

  2. 2

    We find the ways in

The technician finds the cracks and openings around windows and pipes and tells you what to seal.

  3. 3

    Treating the insects

We treat the insects that draw geckos in, around windows, lights and the other places they visit.

  4. 4

    Suitable traps

Where geckos move around, we place suitable traps away from children and pets and tell you how to check them.

  5. 5

We write it down and follow up

The receipt lists the product name, the treated areas and any opening that needs sealing, and we stay in touch with you.

Do eggshells, pepper and mothballs work?

Home remedies like eggshells, pepper, onion and mothballs have no consistent effect, and mothballs are also dangerous for children and pets. A glue board catches the gecko alive, which is a hard sight and does not solve the problem.

What does make a difference: swap the window light for a type that attracts fewer insects or turn it off when you do not need it, fit window screens, seal pipe openings, and clear away boxes and anything else geckos can hide behind.

Safety with children and pets

Products go away from food, and traps go where children and pets cannot reach. The technician tells you how long to wait before you use the room again.

If you handle gecko droppings, wear gloves and wash your hands well. If a child picks up a gecko, have them wash their hands well with soap.

Everything is in writing before we start

Questions about geckos

Are geckos dangerous? Do they poison food?

A gecko does not poison food the way people say, and it does not attack anyone. The risk is its droppings on food, so clean surfaces well and keep food covered.

Will they be gone after the first visit?

No, it takes longer than with insects, because geckos need time. Once the openings are sealed and the insects are down, the numbers drop gradually, which is why we follow up with you.

My home is next to a garden. Will they come back?

You may still see one outside, since a garden brings insects and hiding places, which is why sealing the home matters so much. Our goal is to keep them out of the house.

Is there a product that drives them away for good?

No, nothing drives them away well enough on its own. What works is less food and sealed entries, along with treatment.

How long is the warranty?

The warranty is 5 years, written on the receipt with its terms, based on what we agree on with you. The openings we listed do need to be sealed.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the size of the place and the number of openings, and you get the price by phone. It is written down before we start, and it does not go up after you agree.
