Ant control and termite treatment

The line of ants you wipe away every day keeps coming back because the nest is still there. Termites are another story entirely. They eat wood and can stay hidden until the damage shows.

How do we get rid of ants?

Ant control works with bait the ants carry back to the nest themselves, so it reaches the rest of the colony instead of killing only the ones on the wall. Termites, which this page also covers, need a different treatment that focuses on the infested wood and the mud tubes they use to get in. That is why we identify the type first.

How can you tell which problem you have?

  • The same line of ants every day

They follow one route every day, from a particular crack to food or water. It means there is a nest nearby getting fed.

  • Ants around sugar and food

They show up suddenly in large numbers after one ant finds food, because it leaves a scent trail for the others to follow.

  • Fine dust under wooden furniture

If wood is shedding fine dust and you also have ants, the wood may be infested and the type needs to be identified.

  • Wood that sounds hollow

If a door or baseboard sounds hollow when you knock on it, termites may be eating it from the inside.

  • Mud tubes on the wall

Thin lines of mud running up from the floor are a strong sign of termites.

  • Clear wings by the window

Wings left near windows or lights after flying ants come out. They can point to a new nest nearby.

Regular ants or termites?

Regular ants are looking for food and water, and the nest could be in a wall crack, under the tiles or outside your home. They are a nuisance, but fairly easy to deal with if the bait reaches the nest. Keeping things clean brings their numbers down, but it will not end a nest that already exists.

Termites feed on wood and wood products such as paper and cardboard, and they stay out of the light in tunnels they build from mud. They can reach doors, door frames and furniture without you noticing. If you suspect termites, leave the mud tubes alone until we see them, because they help us work out the route.

Many people confuse termites with woodworm. Woodworm makes round holes, while termites build mud tubes. If you are not sure, take a photo and send it to us on WhatsApp.

Where we look

  • Door and window thresholds
  • Cracks in tile and baseboards
  • Under the sink and around water pipes
  • Wooden door frames
  • Gardens and planters
  • Spots that stay damp

How does ant control work?

  1. 1

We identify the type by phone

One photo is usually enough. Tell us where you see them too, and we give you the price and the time.

  2. 2

    We trace the trail

During the visit, the technician follows the line of ants back to the crack they come from, so the bait goes in the right place.

  3. 3

    Bait that reaches the nest

The ants carry the bait back to the nest. So do not spray any insecticide over it, because that stops the line before the bait gets there.

  4. 4

    Separate treatment for termites

If you have termites, we treat the infested wood and their routes, and we point out any moisture source or wood touching soil that needs fixing.

  5. 5

We write it down and follow up

The product name and the bait locations go on the receipt. We follow up with you because ant numbers drop gradually, not all at once.

Why don't spray and vinegar solve the problem?

Spraying kills the ants walking in front of you, and it can make the colony split up and build new nests elsewhere. Vinegar and lemon change their route for a while, and the nest stays as it is.

What helps: wipe up dropped food, keep sugar and honey in sealed containers and fix water leaks. If we have placed bait, leave it alone and do not wipe the line of ants around it.

Safety with children and pets

The bait goes into cracks or closed boxes, in small amounts, away from children and pets. Tell us if you have a cat or a crawling baby so we can choose the spots carefully.

Termite treatment is different from bait, and the technician tells you how long to stay away from the area. All of this is written on the receipt with the product name.

Everything is in writing before we start

Questions about ants

Why do the ants come back every time I wipe them away?

Because the nest is still there and the line follows a scent trail. Wiping the line does nothing to the nest, which is why we use bait.

I see more ants after treatment. Is that normal?

Yes, at first, because they gather at the bait to carry it away. Give it time, and if nothing changes, call us.

Are termites dangerous for my home?

They are dangerous for wood, such as doors, furniture and door frames, and left alone they do serious damage. If you see the signs, call us quickly and do not break the tunnels.

I have a garden and the ants come from there. Can you treat it?

Yes, just mention it when you book. A garden or planters can be the source, and we decide the treatment based on the type and the location.

Can you treat only my apartment if the whole building has termites?

We can treat your apartment, but if the whole building has them, we will tell you honestly that treating it together works better. We can go through this with you in detail.

Does the warranty cover ants?

Yes. The warranty is 5 years and it is written on the receipt with its terms. If they come back during that time, call us and we come back and treat again.

How much does it cost?

It varies with the type and the area, and termites are treated differently from regular ants. You get the price by phone. It is written down before we start, and it does not go up after you agree.
